Golf event to aid Operation Our Town

Operation Our Town will hold its second annual golf tournament on Sept. 16 at the Park Hills Country Club, Altoona.

A casual evening barbecue will be held the night before for sponsors and golfers at 5 p.m. Sept. 15 with acoustic music by Matt Wagner, a silent auction, skill contests and the opportunity for early registration.

The golf tournament will feature two tee times this year, 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.

A $5,000 cash prize donation from Park Hills Country Club will be awarded during the morning and afternoon session to one lucky golfer.

There will also be opportunities to win $10,000 or a car for a hole-in-one.

Local law enforcement will also have their tactical truck and equipment on display.

The money raised from the tournament is used to fund law enforcement and prevention programs aimed at reducing drugs and crime in Blair County.

Last year’s event raised more than $46,000.

To become a sponsor or golfer for this year’s golf tournament, contact Shawna Hoover at 296-8730 or Priority tee times will be given to early registrants.
