Roaring Spring library plans August activities

ROARING SPRING -?The Roaring Spring Community Library has announced its activities for August.

Library and Book?Cellar hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Donations are accepted at the Book Cellar, which is located in the library at 320 E. Main St., during library hours. For more information concerning book donations call the library.

6 p.m. every Wednesday – Library Knitting and Crochet Group.

Youth programs

1 p.m. Aug. 4 -?”Come See What Girl Scouts is all About.” Join Girl Scouts of Western PA membership and community development manager Michele Bridges as she offers a sampling of Girl Scout activities at the library. 2 p.m. Aug. 4 – Survival Bracelets for Tweens and Teens with Boy Scout presenter Drew Scarbro. This program is targeted for ages 8 and older: participants must sign up, and there is a $5 fee to cover materials for each person to make their own bracelet. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Sign up by emailing Scarbro at or call the library for more information.

1 p.m. Aug. 7 and 14 – “Make and Take Craft.” Join Paula Miller on the porch for a summertime craft.

Front Porch Family Series

1 p.m. Aug. 11 – Little Free Library Program with Lara Dolphin. A Little Free Library is a special box full of books displayed where anyone may stop by and pick up a book (or two) and bring back another book to share. Dolphin is a local parent and library supporter who created a Little Free Library for her neighborhood in 2013. For more information, visit

6 p.m. Sept. 17 – Friends meeting. Join in a discussion of upcoming fundraisers and programs. “Like” Friends of the Roaring Spring Community Library to see the latest additions to the Book Cellar, meetings and upcoming programs.
