Altoona native in patriotic concerts

U.S. Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Paul Cassarly and the U.S. Marine Corps Drum and Bugle Corps will perform three concerts Friday through Sunday at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center, in New York City with the New York Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra.

Cassarly is the son of Robert Cassarly of Altoona and the late Valerie Ames.

He is a 2011 graduate of Altoona Area High School.

During his sophomore year at Penn State, he passed his music audition for “The Commandant’s Own” Drum and Bugle Corps and is stationed in Washington, D.C. His unit has performed concerts in many states.

“Star-Spangled Celebration,” the powerhouse combination of the Philharmonic and “The Com-mandant’s Own” will celebrate America’s birthday with this spectacular display of musical fireworks.
