Record total attend Altoona Day in Florida
BRADENTON, Fla. – A record crowd of 170 people, including several first-timers, attended the annual Altoona Day gathering on Feb. 27. The event was held at Duff’s Original Buffet.
Renewing acquaintances and making new ones again highlighted the yearly event.
Altoona area people, who either live or vacation in various parts of Florida, enjoyed food and conversation, and several door prizes added to the festivities.
The attendees were brought up to date on Altoona Area School District Alumni Association activities by Peggy Cawthern, president of the AASD alums.
Tom and Lenora Irwin reported to the group on Bishop Guilfoyle alumni activities.
A special award was given to Geraldine and Richard Morgan, who were celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary at the luncheon. Both are Altoona High graduates, class of 1948.
Joe Francis, Altoona High?School class of 1960, received a prize for traveling the longest distance to Altoona Day.
