Line-up set for cancer benefit concert
The third annual Striking Chords Against Cancer will be held May 31 at the Altoona Railroaders Museum.
This music festival is presented by Keller Engineers, Heidelberg Country Club and Furrer Beverage Co.
This talent-packed all-day concert benefits the American Cancer Society.
The gates open at 2 p.m., followed by the following entertainment line-up:
2:30 p.m. -?Matt Pletcher

4 p.m. – Travis Singer
4:30 p.m. – 7th Gear
5:30 p.m. – Jackson Monsour
6 p.m. -?Flight 19
7 p.m. – Matt Wagner
7:30 p.m. – Shallow 9
8:30 p.m. – The Backyard Rockers
9 p.m. – Chris Vipond and the Stanley Street Band
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance at Giant Eagle Altoona and the American Cancer Society in Hollidaysburg for a chance to win a $20 gift certificate to Tim’s Cafe (drawing on May 27).
Tickets will also be available at the gate until sold out. Each ticket purchased enters you for a chance to win a luxury suite for an Altoona Curve game (20 tickets are included).
Food and beverages will be available for purchase at the event from Wings and Things, JR Pizza, Furrer Beverage Co and ViSalus Project 10 Challenge Milkshakes with a percentage of sales benefiting the cancer society.
There will be a basket raffle, event T-shirts for sale and games of chance to raise additional funds.

Striking Chords Against Cancer is a part of Giant Eagle’s Grocers Fight Cancer campaign that benefits the American Cancer Society.
This year’s 24th annual Grocers Fight Cancer Day event will turn the Altoona, Bedford, Ebensburg and Indiana Giant Eagle locations into a carnival-like atmosphere all in the name of raising funds for the “fight to put cancer in the bag” for good.
The stores donate at least 5 percent of the day’s total sales back to the ACS and have raised more than $1.2 million since the first event. This community-driven event takes place Oct. 2.
