Dorothy M. Crownover of IDA Tower, Altoona, will celebrate her 100th birthday on Thursday.
She was born May 22, 1914, in Altoona, the daughter of John and Harriet Thompson.
She married Austin Crownover, who is deceased.
Mrs. Crownover is a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, Altoona.
Flora L. (Ciambotti) Evangelisto of Garvey Manor, formerly of Altoona, celebrated her 97th birthday on May 1.
She was born May 1, 1917, the daughter of Carl and Mary Ciambotti. She married Albert C. Evangelisto, who died in 2000.
She has five children: Mary Louise Hooper and Donna Evangelisto, both of Altoona; Ann Louise of Durham, N.C.; Albert Jr. of Duncansville; and Elaine, who is deceased. She also has five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She worked at The Bon-Ton Department Store and Gables Department Store, both in downtown Altoona. She has 32 years of service and more 7,000 hours as a volunteer at the Altoona Hospital Gift Shop.
Flora is a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Juniata; Catholic Daughters of America; Ladies’ Columbian Circle; Knights of Columbus; Altoona Hospital Auxiliary; Sons of Italy’s Ladies’ Lodge; Horseshoe Seniors; and enjoys playing Scrabble.
Catherine V. Fyan
Catherine V. “Kitty” (Siedel) Fyan of 422 Benton Drive, Hollidaysburg, will celebrate her 90th birthday with family and friends.
She was born May 7, 1924.
She has four children: Betty Harnish of Hollidaysburg, Thomas of North Carolina, Jim of New Jersey and Denny of Wisconsin.
She also has 12 grandchildren and a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Fyan retired from Boyer Candy Co., Altoona.
She is a member of the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament, Altoona, and enjoys lottery tickets, candy and ice cream.
