BG to hold spring concert at St. John’s
The Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School Music Department will perform its annual spring concert on at 7 p.m. Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Parish in Lakemont.
The spring concert, under the direction of Bishop Guilfoyle music teacher Brett Keith, will present music consisting of sacred and secular choral selection in varying musical styles, and will incorporate texts from familiar tunes and poetry.
The concert will also feature selections that parallel seasons in our lives of love, hope, prayer and faith, as well as those seasons of remembrance and times of celebrations.
“The audience will be treated to African-American spirituals, gospel pieces, musical theatre selections as well as contemporary numbers by the likes of Simon & Garfunkel, Pharell Williams, and the Beatles,” Keith said.
“It’s a very eclectic concert, but one that many people can relate to.”
A total of 45 Bishop Guilfoyle students in the 10th-, 11th- and 12th-grades will perform in the concert. Three students (Claude Fabinyi, Sam Kibler and Allison Bare) will perform on the piano, and Adam Horell will perform on the drums for the concert.
Admission is free, but the BG music students will be collecting donations to support future BG music programs.
