School retirees present grant

HOLLIDAYSBURG – The Blair County Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees recently awarded its 2013-14 Education Support grant to Hollidaysburg Area Junior High School’s School-Wide Positive Behavior Support Program.

The program encourages five positive behaviors:

Be Here.

Be Accountable.

Be Respectful.

Be Prepared.

Be Safe.

The program seeks to emphasize the benefits of positive behavior instead of administering punitive consequences of negative behavior.

The program does not replace discipline; rather, it recognizes that students’ positive behavior has not readily been acknowledged in the past.

The grant money will assist the SWPBS Team in purchasing student rewards.

Members of the Blair County Chapter of PASR contribute to the grant, which is awarded each year to any school employee who has a program that is not already supported by school district funds.

Next year, the club will sponsor two $250 grants.

The Blair County Chapter of PASR meets at 11:30 a.m. on the first Tuesday of each month at Marzoni’s Brick Oven &?Brewing Co., Duncansville.

Any retired school district employee is welcome.
