GACTC maintains active student organizations
Career & Technical Student Organizations are mandated co-curricular activities for approved career and technical programs in Pennsylvania.
The Greater Altoona Career & Technology Center has three such programs: SkillsUSA, Distributive Education Clubs of America and Health Occupations Students of America.
CTSO’s at GACTC have been active this year.
On Jan. 9, DECA students participated in a personal financial awareness program presented by Don Rhodes of M&T Bank and Jayme Orr of Serviam Construction.
The presentation covered such topics as savings/checking accounts, the importance of your credit score, and the relationship between continuing education and income potential.
Each of the three organizations has been in-volved in district or regional skills competition in preparation for statewide skills competition later this spring.
