Leonard J. “Bud” Myers of Garvey Manor, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Cresson, celebrated his 85th birthday on Tuesday.
He was born April 29, 1929, in Lilly, the son of Michael Valentine and Margaret (Gonsman) Myers.
He is married to Anna Mae (Eckenrod) Myers.
He is the father of four children: Barbara Itle and Annette Dorman, both of Altoona; Francis of Ebensburg; and Patrick, who is deceased.
He also has five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Mr. Myers was a member of the Air Force Reserves for 33 years and retired in 1989 as a senior master sergeant.
He worked for more than 30 years at the Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Altoona, retiring in 1984.
After retirement, he was involved with the American Red Cross, working at bloodmobiles, and Knights of Columbus.
He has been honored by the Knights of Columbus as Knight of the Year and along with his wife, has been honored with the Family of the Year Award.

Lillian May Clapper of Allegheny Lutheran Home, Hollidaysburg, formerly of Duncansville, will celebrate her 100th birthday with an open house from 2 to 5 p.m. April 23 in the Community Room of the home.
She was born April 23, 1914, in Allegheny Township, the daughter of Charles W. and Bertha Jane (Young) Clapper. She was never married.
Miss Clapper retired from The Capital Press, Duncansville.
She is a member of the Duncansville Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was a children’s Sunday School teacher for more than 75 years. She also was a member of the Christie Gleichert Circle and the Duncansville Historical Society and loves to play dominoes.
Elizabeth Edwards of Lakemont will celebrate her 100th birthday on April 18.
An open house will be held from noon to
5 p.m. April 27 at the home of her son, Glenn L. Edwards of 601 Lotz Ave., Lake-mont.
She was born April 18, 1914, the daughter of Jacob and Essie Mae (Claycomb) Burket. She married Glenn A. Edwards, who is deceased.
She has three children: Glenn L. of Lakemont, Judith A. Ricker of Hollidaysburg and Deborah Foltyn of Pittsburgh. She also has seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
