Area families get help with mortgage payments

STATE COLLEGE – Bruce Smith of The WealthKare Investment Centers, in partnership with the Gradient Gives Back Foundation, a nonprofit organization that devotes its resources to assisting Americans in need, announced that two local families have been selected as 2014 recipients of a special gift given to those facing dire circumstances in both their personal and financial lives.

The Stewart and Ranck families, who were notified of this gift late last week, will each receive six months’ worth of mortgage payments.

The Stewart family lives in Huntingdon, and the Ranck family lives in Orbisonia.

Both families have faced a variety of personal and medical issues, along with the financial challenges that often accompany these situations.

Formally launched in 2009 in the midst of the nation’s housing crisis, Gradient Gives Back Foundation strives to help poor, distressed or underprivileged families who are at risk of losing their homes. Each year, the foundation selects families to receive financial assistance, aiming to make a difference in the lives of those who have fallen on hard times.

Bruce Smith, founder and president of The WealthKare Investment Centers, has been a supporter and advocate for the foundation’s mission. He has worked independently to make a difference for deserving families in his local community.

“From the first time we saw the impact of the Gradient Gives Back Foundation on families in need, our firm knew we wanted to get involved,” Smith said.

“Today it is so hard to find a way to give back to your local community where your contributions do the most good. With the foundation, we see the impact on real families in our local area. We hope many advisers will follow in our footsteps and get involved.”
