Blair Garden?Club offers college scholarship

The Blair Garden Club of Altoona is offering a $1,000 scholarship to eligible Blair County high school seniors.

Students must be interested in pursuing further education in one of the following areas of study: agricultural science, botany, ecology, environmental science, floriculture/floral design, forestry, horticulture, landscape architecture and design, plant pathology, nursery production/management, soil science/disease-pest control and turf management.

Graduating high school students who meet the qualifications are urged to contact their high school guidance counselor to obtain an application or contact Sue Brower at 696-1500 or Bev Kennedy at 942-1953. The deadline for all completed applications is April 11.

‘High School Musical Jr.’ on stage in?Hollidaysburg

HOLLIDAYSBURG -?The Hollidaysburg Area Junior Theatre will present “High School Musical Jr.” at 7 p.m. March 22 and 2 p.m. March 23 in the Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School auditorium.

“High School Musical Jr.” tells the story of Troy (Nic Seeley), the school’s basketball star, and math genius Gabriella (Kamryn Wantz) auditioning for the school musical.

Their rivals are Sharpay (Grace Everett) and Ryan (Nathan Stull) Evans, and they compete for the leads as judged by drama coach, Ms. Darbus (Annie Diminick).

Things get complicated when friends Taylor (Jaden Parker) and Chad (Casey Ottaway) try to influence them to “stick to the status quo” and forget about the show.

This Disney classic features songs like “We’re All in This Together” and “Bop to the Top.”

The show is directed by Stephanie Everett, with musical direction by Wendy Jo Nagy. Annie Diminick and Wyatt Cree choreographed the show. Russell Stiles is the set and lighting designer.

Tickets are available at the door. Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for students and seniors.

Hershey School plans family event in?Altoona

The Milton Hershey School will host Family Events in Altoona and Johnstown next week. Family Events are informal get-togethers that offer a chance to learn more about the school.

Following a free meal and brief presentation, attendees will have time to ask questions and talk with MHS staff.
