Altoona Area Public Library sets programs
The Altoona Area Public Library will be closed through Jan. 12 for renovation of the air handler system. The library also will be closed Jan. 20 in observance of Martin Luther King’s Birthday.
Programs for the remainder of January are as follows:
Families of young children are invited to check out the library’s free educational story time programs for caregiver and child to enjoy together. Developmentally appropriate and enjoyable programs for children ages 1 to 5 are offered weekly. Registration is required. Call the library at 946-0417, ext. 123, to register.
Families are welcome to enjoy a free movie on the library’s big screen. “Turbo” Rated PG, running time 96 minutes, will be played at 1 p.m. Jan. 18 in the library theater.
The Altoona Area Public Library Book Discussion Group will meet at 6:45 p.m. Jan. 13 on the second floor balcony to discuss the Sherman Alexie novel “The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian.” Call the library at 946-0417 to obtain a book copy.

iPad and Tablet Class – 1 p.m. Jan. 23. Learn how to download the library’s e-books to your device.
What do I do with my iPad? – 1 p.m. Jan. 27. Learn how to use your iPad: features iPad basics, tips, how to load apps, use the App Store, etc.
Children ages 6 to 12 are invited to join a new Lego Club at the library. All you need is your imagination. The club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 27. Registration is required by calling 946-0417, ext. 123.
