St. Patrick’s Day race set for March 16
NEWRY The second annual St. Patrick’s Day 5K Run, One-Mile Fun Walk and Youth Events will be held March 16. Events start and finish in front of St. Patrick Elementary School (intersection of Patrick Lane and Limerick Street). Post-race refreshments will be served in the cafeteria. Many door prizes will be awarded, donated by area merchants.
Events include the “Limerick to Dublin Dash” at 9 a.m. Age categories are ages 4 and 5, 6 and 7, 8 and 9 and 10 to 13.
The chip-timed 5K Run starts at 9:30 a.m., and the One-Mile Fun Walk starts at 9:35 a.m. Age categories are 13 and younger, 14 to 16, 17 to 19, 20 to 24, 25 to 29, 30 to 34, 35 to 39, 40 to 44, 45 to 49, 50 to 54, 55 to 59, 60 to 64, 65 to 69 and 70 and older.
Registration is from 8 to 8:45 a.m. in the school cafeteria. The cost to register follows:
5K Run – $20 (or $15, if postmarked by Feb. 28).
One-Mile Fun Walk – $15 (or $10, if postmarked by Feb. 28).
“Limerick to Dublin Dash” – $11, or $9, if postmarked by Feb. 28.
T-shirts will be guaranteed to those registered by Feb. 28. Awards will be presented to the first-, second- and third-place male and female finishers in each age group for the 5K Run, and ribbons will be presented to all walk and dash participants.
Sponsorships are also available. For a $50 or $75 donation, your business name will be imprinted on the back of the race T-shirt. For a donation of $100 or more, businesses can also include their logos. The sponsorship deadline is Feb. 28. All contributions are tax-deductible.
