Accomplishments: Matthew 25 Youth Humanitarian Award from Catholic Charities; Altoona Sunrise Rotary Scholarship; member of National Honor Society; President’s Award for Educational Excellence; attending state competition for Poetry Out Loud; invited to Congress of Future Medical Leaders; captain of Scholastic Quiz for two years

Future goals: Attend St. Francis University for Social Studies Education, get a master’s in Library Science to eventually teach or work in a public library

Special Recognition: Third Highest Individual Scorer in Scholastic Quiz in 11th grade, Highest Individual High Scorer (82 questions) in Scholastic Quiz in 12th grade

Hobbies, community activities and interests:

Volunteering at the Tyrone-Snyder Public Library and riding horses

Most influential teacher: Steve Wilson, 7th and 8th grade, all subjects but math and science. He was influential because he encouraged me to develop myself as an independent and confident person and taught me to never hide my unique gifts and talents.

Heroes: Pearl Smiach, my maternal grandmother, because she has selflessly given to her family and community all her life and is never too occupied to share a hug and smile; Mary Ann Zakrzwski, my paternal grandmother, because she helps others spiritually, mentally and physically because of her love for others and never looks for thanks.
