The pastors and parishioners of Zion Lutheran Parish and St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Parish, both of Hollidaysburg, will gather for evening prayer at St. Michael Church at 5 p.m. Sunday to mark the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.
The service will consist of the thanksgiving for the Light, sung psalms, Scripture reading, reflection, prayers of intercession and final blessing. A light fellowship meal in the church hall will follow the evening prayer.
Veterans Day service
Wehnwood United Methodist Church, 2511 Juniata Gap Road, Altoona, will host its annual Veterans Day service at 9:15 a.m. Sunday. Lt. Steve Masters, USCG (Ret.), will deliver the message.
The Bellwood Council of Churches and the Bellwood Community Choir will present a Veterans Day celebration and concert at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Bellwood-Antis High School Auditorium. Admission is free; donations will be accepted for expenses for new musical selections for future performances.
The Altoona chapter of Aglow International will meet on Tuesday at Hoss’s Steak and Sea House on Seventh Street and Pleasant Valley Boulevard, Altoona.
The meeting will begin with lunch at noon, followed by the meeting. There will be a time of prayer, praise and worship, followed by speaker Debra Holland. Holland is a lay speaker for the Larger Glasgow Methodist Church and holds a chaplain’s license.

Soup and bake sale
The Women’s Guild of St. John’s Reformed Church, 906 Maple Ave., Hollidaysburg, will hold a soup and bake sale from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Homemade soups will be available in pints, quarts and by the bowl. Samples will also be available. Breads and other baked goods will be available, plus a few Christmas items. Dish cloths will also be sold.
Free community dinner
Free community dinner to be held from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Halfmoon Christian Church, 1776 Halfmoon Valley Road, Stormstown. All are welcome to attend. For more information, contact the church at 692-4178.
One Mission will be held at 6 p.m. Sunday at the Claysburg Church of God, 4311 Evergreen Road, Claysburg. The event is geared toward all teens in the community, regardless of church affiliation, and will include a bonfire, food, worship, a message and fellowship. The 11th Novena of 2017 to Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St. Therese (the Little Flower) offered by the Discalced Carmelite Nuns of Loretto will open on Nov. 22 and end on Nov. 30.
All intentions submitted to the nuns will be remembered with the special Novena prayers following the daily Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in the sisters’ chapel.
Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament is held at 4 p.m. every Sunday and every first Friday of the month. Everyone is welcome to attend the Benediction followed by the veneration of the relic of St. Therese of the Child Jesus of the Holy Face.
