Pennsylvania Consort celebrates Handel’s Messiah

The Pennsylvania Consort will celebrate 30 years of presenting Handel’s Messiah at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 9 at Bedford United Methodist Church, 132 E. John St., Bedford. This long-standing traditional event, anchored by the 50-plus volunteer choir assembled from Bedford, Blair and Cambria counties, is held under the auspices of The Pennsylvania Consort.

Returning for his second year, Christopher Bartley is the conductor, and the soloists are Elizabeth Shoenfelt, coloratura soprano; Timothi Williams, mezzo soprano; Christyan Seay, tenor, and Skip Napier, baritone. In honor of the 30th anniversary, Bartley will present a pre-concert talk at 7 p.m. about the history of the oratorio.

Advance tickets are available at the National Museum of the American Coverlet, the Bedford County Visitors Bureau in Bedford and the Everett Rexall Pharmacy in Everett. Advance tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets will also be sold at the door one hour before the concert. Adult tickets at the door are $11; student tickets are $5.
