‘Big Bang’ star pregnant
LOS ANGELES — “Big Bang Theory” star Melissa Rauch is expecting her first child with her husband, screenwriter Winston Beigel.
Rauch has revealed her pregnancy in an essay for Glamour magazine in which she also opens up about a miscarriage she suffered. She writes that she’s “terrified at the moment that it will happen again,” but is making the news public before someone sees her pregnant and announces the news first.
She says the miscarriage “was one of the most profound sorrows” she has ever felt and led to a bout with depression. The 37-year-old Rauch says the experience has changed her forever and hopes it will make her a better mother.
Rauch plays Dr. Berna-dette Rostenkowski-Wol-owitz on the CBS sitcom.
Manchester lauds Grande
LONDON — Manches-ter officials say they are making U.S. pop singer Ariana Grande an honorary citizen of the city because of her response to the deadly concert attack in May.
City council leader Richard Leese proposed the move, describing the 23-year-old singer as “a young American woman for whom it would have been understandable if she never wanted to see this place again.”
He said instead, Grande “brought comfort to thousands and raised millions” for an emergency fund when she returned to headline the One Love Manchester benefit concert in June.
Other council officials in the northwest English city voted Wednesday to back the proposal.
