Gallagher to perform at Steelers playoff game
Josh Gallagher has been busy since taking fourth place on the popular television singing competition show “The Voice” on NBC last month.
Stepping up his Nashville and national gigs, the Cresson native is scheduled to sing the pre-game National Anthem and the half-time program at the Steelers’ game on Sunday in Pittsburgh.
“I can’t believe I’m singing the National Anthem and playing halftime at the Pittsburgh Steelers game this Sunday,” he posted on Facebook earlier this week.
Gallagher also was scheduled to perform at a Steelers pep rally on Friday night in anticipation of the AFC Wild Card game at Heinz Field on Sunday that pits the Steelers against the Miami Dolphins. Kickoff for the game, to be televised on CBS, is at 1:05 p.m. CBS has not always aired performances of “The Star Spangled Banner” and halftime shows.
A student at Penn State Greater Allegheny for a time, Gallagher performed at a pre-game program of the Rose Bowl on Monday, in which Penn State played the University of Southern California in Pasadena, Calif.
He will return to his central Tennessee gigs and already has a concert scheduled for Monday at 3rd & Lindsley, a Nashville bar and grill that has included acts such as Lady Antebellum, Zac Brown Band, Norah Jones, Sheryl Crow and Ed Sheeran.
Gallagher will return to Pennsylvania on Jan. 28 to perform two sold-out concerts at the Mishler Theatre in Altoona. He also is booked as a headliner for the Thunder in the Valley motorcycle rally in Johnstown in June.
Gallagher has continued work on his debut album, and has released three songs on iTunes – in addition to his live performances on “The Voice” — including “Pick Any Small Town.”
