Conference addresses the needs of pet lovers
A blog is a discussion or informational site published on the web, consisting of daily or weekly entries, or posts, about specialized topics of interest. Bloggers are unique in that they do not only produce content to post on their blogs, but also build social relations with their readers and other bloggers, greatly enhancing the quality and influence behind the topic on which they write.
So, what can be accomplished when you bring hundreds of bloggers together?
Last week, I had the opportunity to join more than 500 like-minded pet enthusiasts who support pet welfare via social media. Fellow bloggers, rescues, industry experts and businesses attended Blogpaws 2014 from May 8 to 10 in Lake Las Vegas, Nev., for what has become the biggest social media event and conference of its kind in the world.
The three-day – very pet friendly – event offered a full slate of seminars focused on how to use social media effectively and responsibly. Sessions addressed topics like pet health care and changes in the pet care industry.
It also addressed to how to write a better blog, edit captivating video, analyzing searches and audience, to time management and creative writing techniques. Each evening featured awards ceremonies recognizing peer accomplishiments in a variety of social media categories and recognition of and multiple donations to pet rescue groups and shelters across the country.
In addition to the learning opportunity, the industry contacts become priceless resources. Every person has the same end goal in mind – to communicate effectively so that we can help to create a better, healthier world for our pets and their humans.
Blogpaws was founded in 2009 by three dedicated pet lovers and bloggers who saw the need to bring this rapidly growing and influential global community of online pet bloggers to an offline social media conference. There members could network, learn how to enhance their social networks and interact with pet brands and industry experts.
The Blogpaws online community helps pet bloggers, pet enthusiasts, Twitter and Facebook micro-bloggers and brands eager to tap into a community of serious writers, bloggers and tweeters. In less than five years, the online community site has grown to more than 3,600 registered members, more than 40,000 Twitter followers and more than 20,000 Facebook likes.
