Joan Jett will play Clearfield County Fair

CLEARFIELD – Joan Jett & the Blackhearts will close out the Clearfield County Fair with a night of rock and roll at 8 p.m. Aug. 2.

At 14, Jett picked up her first guitar.

As the leader of the hard-rocking Blackhearts, Jett has had eight platinum and gold albums and nine Top 40 singles, including “Bad Reputation,” “I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll,” “I Hate Myself For Loving You” and “Crimson and Clover.”

A version of “I Hate Myself for Loving You” has been NBC’s Sunday Night Football theme performed this past season by Carrie Underwood, and her music is heard in films and TV shows including “Easy A,” “The Runaways,” “Shrek” and “Baby Mama.”

Jett’s story was told “The Runaways,” the film based on lead singer of The Runaways Cherie Currie’s book “Neon Angel” starring Kristen Stewart as Jett. Jett served as an executive producer.

Jett & the Blackhearts’ “Unvarnished,” released in September, peaked at 47 on the Billboard Charts.
