Altoona native Winter to perform at JFK tribute

Altoona native Paul Winter will be performing at the tribute to John F. Kennedy on Friday.

Winter will be playing with his Sextet along with James Taylor and the U.S. Navy Choir at the Kennedy Library in Boston on the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President Kennedy.

“We’ve just received the script to be read during the memorial telecast,” Winter wrote in an email to the Mirror on Thursday night. “The words come from President Kennedy’s speeches and have evoked for me powerful memories.”

Winter, 74, is a 1957 graduate of Altoona Area High School and a six-time Grammy winner.
