Patched Together, Turkey Eve Happenings!

Here is a listing of Altoona area live music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, November 16 through Thursday, November 22.

Several noteworthy events are happening on area live music stages this weekend and upcoming week, especially heading toward the Thanksgiving holiday.

The 8th annual “Patched Together: A Day of Music to Benefit the Healing Patch” will happen Saturday at the Bavarian Aid Society starting at 2 p.m. Patched Together raises funds for the Home Nursing Agency’s Healing Patch program, a peer support service designed for children and families that have suffered the loss of loved ones. The concert will feature performances from a number of local and regional performers, including Matt Otis & the Sound, Jim Donovan & the Sun King Warriors, 80 Degreez, Negan, Railtowne, Time with Donny Burns, Greg Burley and The Chrome Hearts. There will also be children’s activities, basket giveaways, food, refreshments and more. Donation at the door is $5/person, with children ages 12 and under admitted free.

Altoona’s Jaffa Shrine hosts 1970s and 80s hitmakers The Little River Band on Friday evening, presented by Legends Of Rock Productions and RockBlue Concerts. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Formed in Melbourne, Australia in 1975, The Little River Band became a staple of 1970s and 80s rock and hit music radio with a string of major hits including “It’s a Long Way There,” “Help Is On Its Way,” “Happy Anniversary,” “Lady,” “Lonesome Loser,” “Cool Change,” “The Night Owls” and more. The group is known for their vocals and vocal harmonies, and were dubbed by late Eagle Glenn Frey as “the best singing band in the world.” Tickets can be purchased through the Jaffa Shrine website, or at the door.

Often billed as one of the busiest nights of the year on the live music scene, Thanksgiving Eve Wednesday features a number of area bands and performers throughout the region. Feel free to usher in your Thanksgiving holiday with any of these live performances, and please do so responsibly.

For outdoor shows, in the event of inclement weather, please call or use social media to check ahead to make sure the show is still taking place, especially if you are driving any distance to attend.

Check out and support the area live music! And if you celebrate heavily while doing so, please designate a sober driver or call a taxi to get you home.
