Park N’ Rock and Brass Monkeys This Weekend!

Here is a listing of Altoona area live music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, November 30 through Thursday, December 6.

Among the live music highlights this weekend is the fourth annual Park N’Rock fundraiser for Central Blair Recreation. The event happens on Friday evening at the Bavarian Aid Society. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with music beginning at 7 p.m. This Albatross and Shallow 9 will strike up the musical party on the stage. There will also be food and refreshments and more.

And for fans of the Beastie Boys, McGarvey’s presents Brass Monkeys: The Ultimate Beastie Boys Tribute on Saturday night with Shallow 9 opening. Formed in 2012 following the passing of Beastie Boys member Adam Yauch, Brass Monkeys strives to capture the Beastie Boys’s music and live performance as authentically as possible. The show starts at 9 p.m.

For outdoor shows, in the event of inclement weather, please call or use social media to check ahead to make sure the show is still taking place, especially if you are driving any distance to attend.

Check out and support the area live music! And if you celebrate heavily while doing so, please designate a sober driver or call a taxi to get you home.
