Flood City Music Festival and Clearfield County Fair!

Here is a listing of Altoona area live music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, August 3 through Thursday, August 9.

Outdoor events continue to provide the highlights during this time of year.

The annual AmeriServ Flood City Music Festival takes place on Friday and Saturday in and around People’s Natural Gas Park in Johnstown, providing continuous music on three stages. Friday’s headliners include The Devon Allman Project featuring Duane Betts, pairing the offspring of famed Allman Brothers members Gregg Allman and Dickey Betts respectively. Saturday’s headliners include Blues Traveler and the Pure Prairie League (creators of the 1970s hit song “Amie”). For ticket information, visit www.floodcitymusic.com.

And the grandstand stage heats up at the 158th annual Clearfield County Fair this weekend. Two 1990s rock forces, Collective Soul and 3 Doors Down, perform on Friday night. The hair band 1980s will return to the stage on Saturday with Great White, Vixen and Faster Pussycat performing.

And Vets Jam III happens on Sunday afternoon at the Unter Uns Musical & Entertainment Society in Altoona, with proceeds helping out local veterans. This year’s event will feature performances from Flashpoint, The McCaulley Project, Skye 2.0 and a reunion of the U.S. Sound Theater. The benefit begins at 1 p.m., and may happen outdoors if weather conditions permit.

For outdoor shows, in the event of inclement weather, please call or use social media to check ahead to make sure the show is still taking place, especially if you are driving any distance to attend.

Check out and support the area live music! And if you celebrate heavily while doing so, please designate a sober driver or call a taxi to get you home.
