Canadian Rovers and the Return of a Former Misfit!

Here is a listing of Altoona area live music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, March 2 through Thursday, March 8.

Among the highlights during this weekend and upcoming week…If you seek to get an early musical start on the upcoming St. Patrick’s Day festivus, McGarvey’s will present Hamilton, Ontario (Canada)-based performers the Steel City Rovers on Saturday night. Together since 2012, this five-member group performs their unique brand of “celtibilly,” a blend of Celtic, folk, roots, country and traditional North American music. Local duo favorites Ed N’Born start off the night. The music begins at 10:30 p.m.

And Michale Graves certainly likes performing in these parts…The former Misfits frontman returns to play a special acoustic show at McGarvey’s on Tuesday night. His acoustic set enables Graves to strip his music down to its basics, and he will perform a mix of his established song favorites, new material, and probably a Misfits favorite or two. Cambria County horror/punk rockers One Adam 12 will open the night with a unique acoustic set. The show is slated to begin at 7 p.m.

For outdoor shows, in the event of inclement weather, please call or use social media to check ahead to make sure the show is still taking place, especially if you are driving any distance to attend.

Check out and support the area live music! And if you celebrate heavily while doing so, please designate a sober driver or call a taxi to get you home.
