Festivus of Fall Festivals!

Here is a listing of Altoona area live music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, Oct. 13 through Thursday, Oct. 19.

Outdoor fall festival season reaches its peak this weekend, with four prominent annual fall festival events transpiring through Sunday.

Bedford’s Fall Foliage Festival enters its second weekend on Saturday and Sunday, with live music gracing both the downtown Gazebo and River stages both days. Saturday’s entertainers include State College Americana artists Raven and the Wren, Free Donuts, A’Cappella Kinda Guys, White Shadow and Pittsburgh’s Nied’s Hotel Band, while Sunday’s performers include 1960s hitmakers The Vogues, Matt Otis & the Sound, and Andy Mowatt’s Steely Jam from Lancaster. Admission is free; see the listing below for performance schedule details.

Downtown Hollidaysburg hosts the annual Hollidaysburg Pumpkin Festival on Saturday along Allegheny Street. Numerous food and other vendors, children’s activities, and live entertainment will again be featured at the free festival. The Chrome Hearts and Born and the Beanstalk are among this year’s musical entertainers; see the listing below for more details.

Alexandria in Huntingdon County hosts its annual Hartslog Day Festival along Main Street in Alexandria on Saturday. Numerous arts and crafts vendors, produce stands, children’s activities and food vendors will line Main Street and various side streets, and live music will take place under the tent outside the Hartslog Museum. Anita Roseborough & Friends, Silver Creek, Unusual Suspects String Band, Running Creek and the Backyard Rockers are among this year’s musical entertainers; see the listing below for the day’s music schedule.

And if you are up for a short road trip, the annual Fort Ligonier Days Festival happens from Friday through Sunday throughout downtown Ligonier. Multiple arts and crafts vendors, children’s activities, historical presentations and food vendors will be present, as well as live music. This year’s performers include Renegade Ridge, Woods Rising and Pittsburgh’s Tres Lads on Friday; Jeff Jimerson (who sings the National Anthem during many of the Pittsburgh Penguins’ home games) & Airborne, Saddle Up and reggae performers Dub Squad on Saturday; and “Ireland’s Happy Man” Cahal Dunne and Johnstown’s Flood City Brass on Sunday. Admission all three days is free; see the listing below for more information.

For outdoor shows, in the event of inclement weather, please call or use social media to check ahead to make sure the show is still taking place, especially if you are driving any distance to attend.

Check out and support the area live music! And if you celebrate heavily while doing so, please designate a sober driver or call a taxi to get you home.
