Patched Together, Thanksgiving Live Music!

Below is a listing of Altoona area live music happenings for the weekend and week of Friday, November 18 through Thursday, November 24.

One  big highlight of this weekend’s live music slate is the sixth annual “Patched Together: A Day Of Music for the Healing Patch.” This year’s event happens on Saturday at the Bavarian Aid Society in Altoona, and will feature eight hours of continuous activities and live music to raise awareness of The Healing Patch, a nonprofit service that provides mentoring and counseling services to young people dealing with grief from the passings of family members or friends. The music will begin at 2 p.m. and alternate on two stages. Artists performing this year include The Sitch, The Band OZ, Strings Radio, the Backyard Rockers, Stone Bridge Blues Band, Time with Donny Burns, The Rattlers, This Albatross, R2B2, Chris Vipond & the Stanley Street Band, The Chrome Hearts and Jim Donovan & the Sun King Warriors. Also taking place will be basket drawings, 50/50’s and other prize giveaways, a variety of children’s activities, and food and refreshments will be available.

Wednesday night, Thanksgiving Eve, will again be a busy night with live music happening throughout the area. Shallow Nine, Flight 19 (acoustic), Matt Pletcher and Born & the Beanstalk are just a few of the favorites in action in the Altoona area to help hail in Thanksgiving Day.

Flight 19’s Saturday performance at Altoona’s Four Dees Lounge will mark local guitar legend John McKelvey’s final night performing with the electric edition of the group; he will continue to perform with Flight 19’s acoustic edition. John is lessening his live performance workload to devote more time to engineering and recording area artists’ original music.

Check out and support the area live music! And if you celebrate heavily while doing so, please designate a sober driver or call a taxi to get you home.
